Frequently Asked Questions About Carpet Installation

GENERAL

What is the best type of carpet for my home?
The best type of carpet depends on your specific needs, such as the room's traffic level, desired look, and budget. Loop pile is durable and ideal for high-traffic areas, while cut pile is softer and more luxurious, suitable for bedrooms and lounge areas. Tile carpet is versatile and easy to replace, making it great for DIY projects.
Wool has traditionally been seen as the quality choice but also comes with a higher price point. However synthetic carpets on the market today can complete with wool carpets and have a few added benefits not native to wool. These include but are not limited to increased moth and bug resistance and less susceptible to staining.
Use pH-neutral cleaners and avoid harsh chemicals to maintain its finish.

Yes. Carpet acts as a natural insulator, helping to retain warmth in winter and keep rooms cooler in summer. It can also reduce energy costs by improving thermal comfort.
Definitely. Carpet absorbs sound, making it ideal for busy households, apartments, or multi-level homes. It softens footsteps and reduces echoes, creating a quieter, more peaceful environment.
Commercial carpet tiles are built for durability. They’re typically low-pile, stain- resistant, and designed to handle heavy foot traffic and frequent cleaning. Most require glue-down installation for long-term stability. They’re ideal for offices, schools, and shared spaces and also work well in home offices and rentals.

INSTALLATION

Do I need to prepare anything for the carpet installation?
Ensuring the area is cleared, we prepare the surface if necessary, lay the underlay and cut and fit the carpet. We take care of the whole installation and nothing is required on your part.  After installation, furniture can be replaced immediately for stretch-in installations, and 24 hours for glue-down or double glue-down carpets. During this time ensure adequate ventilation and minimize foot traffic to prevent indentations or damage.
Yes, carpet tiles can be installed over many existing hard floors, including concrete, timber, vinyl, and ceramic tiles, provided the surface is clean, dry, and level. Loose or soft surfaces, such as old carpet or cushion-backed vinyl, should be removed first. If the existing floor has bumps or cracks, patch and smooth it before installation.
In Australia, the easiest way to check is by looking at the ACCS (Australian Carpet Classification Scheme) label. Carpets are independently tested and rated for durability and appearance retention, with residential products rated up to 6 stars and commercial products rated up to 4. For commercial spaces, look for the gold and black ACCS labels. A higher star rating indicates stronger performance under heavy traffic, so a fourstar contract rating signals that the carpet is designed to handle demanding environments such as hotel corridors, busy offices, or retail spaces.
Use pH-neutral cleaners and avoid harsh chemicals to maintain its finish.
It is recommended to change the underlay for the best quality and feel of the carpet however, existing underlay can be re-used if generally within warranty time frame and inspected prior to new carpet installation.

CARE

How do I maintain my carpet?
Regular vacuuming, prompt spot cleaning, and occasional professional cleaning help keep carpet looking like new. Many styles also come with built-in stain protection for added peace of mind.
Carpets are suitable for pet friendly homes. Like anything, efforts should be made to assist with the maintenance of the carpet such as regularly vacuuming with a brush- roller vacuum head, regularly brushing your pet to minimise hair fall around the house and ensuring your pet’s feet are cleaned before entering the house. Solution dyed Nylon carpets and Triexta carpets are designed with stain-resistant fibres and easy-clean finishes that help with any possible dirt or spills from your pet.
As lifestyles vary, there is no one answer to the frequency of cleaning. However, under general conditions, on top of regular vacuuming, carpet manufactures recommend steam cleaning your carpets once every 12 months. More regular steam cleaning should be considered for homes with children, pets or more traffic. This also helps preserve the life of your carpet.
While the length of time varies greatly on foot traffic and the nature of the business, commercial carpets provide a cleaner and healthier environment for you and your staff when cleaned more regularly. it is recommended that carpets and upholstery be cleaned at least every 3-6 months.
